Biography
Jeff Licence – Filmmaker, Writer, Media Education Consultant

Born in Brisbane in 1968, Jeff Licence’s career combines media, education and writing. Across all of these spheres, the common thread is a love of storytelling.

Jeff began his media career in London in 1990. After studying a B.A in Media Production at Griffith University, Jeff spent several years working for Channel 7 and freelance in media production, until he took a career right hand turn and studied Early Childhood Education at QUT.
Jeff moved to the Gold Coast in the late 1990’s and began teaching in a variety of schools and curriculum areas, including Steiner, environmental education and in the mainstream classroom. In 2005 he established and taught a first of its kind media education program at Surfers Paradise Primary School.
Jeff currently provides media education consultancy for schools, childcare centres, families and curriculum designers, including the Crèche & Kindergarten Association, A.C.T Health, Pengari Steiner School and the Heart Foundation. He is also an advisor for Common Sense Media (America) and the Commonwealth Bank Start Smart consumer awareness program.

Alongside his work in education, Jeff has continued to tell stories through his work in media. In 2004 he produced a 12 part radio series for ABC called Earthtalk, which told the stories of positive environmental projects happening across S.E.Q & N.N.S.W. His radio work also featured on ABC Radio Nationals Earthbeat program. Jeff has also shot, edited and produced several music clips, a variety of corporate videos and is about to embark on a range of cultural storytelling projects through indigenous and multicultural organisations in the region.

In collaboration with Nadia Sunde, (his wife and business partner), Jeff has written 2 children’s theatre shows. Their latest production, Nadia & the Blue Flamingo has been performed at the Qld State Library, Melbourne Recital Centre and the Somerset Festival of Literature and has been accepted into the 2013 Artour program. They are currently working on the creation of a T.V show for children.
Jeff has written many articles for magazines and newspapers, including Screen Education, Kids on the Coast and the Gold Coast Bulletin. He writes a regular blog at www.jefflicence.worpress.com.

Biography
Nadia Sunde – Singer, Writer, Entertainer, Children’s Performer

Nadia & the Blue the Flamingo, written by Nadia Sunde & Jeff Licence

‘Deliciously heart-warming, soulful, quirky and hilarious good fun’, Nadia Sunde plays real music for kids and grown-ups who want to enjoy something a little more rootsy and organic.

An internationally-awarded songwriter, published children’s author, music educator, accomplished entertainer, comedienne, former ABC Radio announcer and a mother of two, Nadia is passionate about creating quality music and theatre experiences that inspire and connect people of all ages.

Since its release in early 2010 her album, ‘Homespun’, has received due recognition for being one of the most treasured children’s albums to emerge on the Australian music scene. Nadia won 3rd place in the Children’s Category of the 2009 International Songwriting Competition for her track ‘The Goat and The Goose’. Her song ‘Mango Tree’ was a semi-finalist in the 2010 competition and ‘Shake It Down’ has recently been announced as a finalist for this year – winners announced in early May! Her song ‘Little Boat’ has also been published as a children’s book by Australian publisher – ‘The Little Big Book Club’.

The songs from Homespun became the inspiration for ‘Nadia’s Wish’, a live musical theatre experience for families, which debuted at the State Library of Queensland in January 2010, delighting audiences over a three-week season and starring Nadia in the lead role.

Nadia has just launched her brand new musical comedy for children and families, ‘Nadia & The Blue Flamingo’, with sellout performances at the Melbourne Recital Centre’s MusicPlay Festival in January this year. The show has also been included in the 2013 Queensland Touring Showcase and work is currently underway on a book and CD to accompany the show.

As a solo artist or accompanied by her ensemble, The Swing Set, performing in a theatre, at a festival or presenting her music workshops to teachers and families, Nadia brings a unique, good-humoured experience to all those who join her. She lights up a room, presenting real and heartfelt music for kids and grown-ups alike and facilitating those magical moments when music is shared between people of all ages.

I just wanted to write to you and say how happy I was with how things went for the Practise film clip. The footage you got was remarkable and we were so happy with what you saw.  I also wanted to say thanks for the way you conducted yourself during the editing process.  You were really open to my feedback, no matter how abstract, and completed the job in record time.  I know all The Lamplights are really happy with the clip and we’ve had many people ask who filmed it. Congratulations!
